Well, what else are weekends for?
Once again up with the lark for Ottawacker Jr.’s early morning soccer. The U14s were playing at Ottawa University against the Toronto FC Academy team – closely matched teams, and OISC was held to a 2-2 draw. Back home to watch Liverpool hammer Ipswich Town. It’s rare for a game to be relatively stress-free for me, but this one was. We won 4-1, but went into “energy conservation mode” at 4-0, and effectively stopped trying.
In the afternoon, Ottawacker Jr. had a practice out in Blackburn Hamlet. We picked up his friend Lucas on the way out and then Lucas’s parents did the pick up. Then we all met in a very civilised manner at the Hometown Pub on Bank Street for snacks and beer.
Home, where we finally managed to give Ottawacker Jr. his dessert in the trophy he gets to hold for a week. He’s not eating from the actual trophy – because that would be gross – but I found a small silver bowl that fits perfectly in the top of it. The blip is of his looking longingly at the cake and ice cream in the trophy.
Watched a couple more Ted Lasso episodes… I am racing through them far too quickly.
