Ski field in summer

Some hiking today at Cardrona Ski Field.  We used the chondola to start the climb. It is operating for trail bikers and go-kart riders who use the area in summer.

When we left the base buildings (at 1670 metres) it was 6°C and it was colder further up the mountain.  In fact, there was still ice on the grasses and Maori carvings at midday, after a very cold night (see extras).  Yes it's supposed to be summer.......
