Today I decided to see the paintings by William Turner, the most famous British artist in the 19th century.  The Victorian art collector, Henry Vaughan, collected over 200 works done by Turner, donating them to galleries in Scotland, Ireland and England, and stipulating that they were to be displayed only in January and free to see. This year Dublin and Edinburgh have exchanged their collections for the first time since they were bequeathed in1900, meaning that there have been queues to see them.
In the distance beyond the puddle, can be seen part of the queue at the Scottish National Gallery but I had no time to queue for over two hours before an appointment and later in the afternoon the queue was still more than an hour so I gave up.  Then the puddles were really deep with water everywhere in very heavy rain.
