Catkins

I think I have blipped male catkins every year since I started blipping eleven years ago. They are just such a part of this time of the year, few flowers but lots of hazel catkins (which are I believe technically flowers).

This was a quick photo, I had walked around Risley Moss and then to get my steps in I was walking over to the Alive and Well gym to make some enquiries. The deal for residents like myself who are of a certain age is extremely good. I’ll think about it - I want to retain fitness, but with exercise that I enjoy.

Consequently, it was only when I looked at the photo I had taken that I noticed the little red female flowers. They are incredibly tiny and thus easily overlooked.
