Japan - Day Four
The 5th station of the grand Mt. Fuji (the last of the stations that can be reached by car or bus)
After several hours of driving on twisty mountain roads, complete with hairpin turns, and steep breathtaking verticals, and bluer than blue skies, we approached the most famous mountain.
Traffic slowed to a crawl, as we climbed, !st station, 2nd station, etc. before finally arriving at the 5th station. Well, it was a bit of a disappointment, to say the least! The 5th station is where all the multitudes gather to trek to the top. It is super-crowded!
And overflowing with souvenir shops. And (almost always) shrouded in fog. We couldn't see more than a few yards in front of us!
The funny thing is that on the way back down, the fog lifted briefly and we caught a glimpse of the top of the mighty mountain.
Just for fun, I added that photo of Mt Fuji as seen from the side of the road
