Choose Joy

EIGHT people checked in on me

I guess the stuff at my agency was all over the news? Or it got out? At least eight people reached out to check on me and see how I’m doing.

Today was exciting. Last night the entire top layer of the agency was placed on admin leave, supposedly for trying to circumvent the executive orders. I heard from a reliable source that at least some of them were not only complying faithfully but going further. This is the perfect demonstration that appeasement will not save you.

Last night the people we were worried would be laid off were and at least some of them will not be paid. This group makes up about half of my office.

We began a meeting first thing this morning with our top guy saying, “well, I’m still here.”

Tonight there were rumors that two more categories will be let go.

But at least the essential life saving work, as of tonight, will be allowed to continue.

The point is to traumatize people so they leave. This means that joy is resistance.

“Entire Russian regiments abandoned the frontlines in Ukraine” Newsweek wrote that an entire regiment, 1,000 soldiers, deserted the 20th Guards Motor Rifle Division of the Russian Armed Forces.

Russia attacked an estate that had been turned into a museum in Kyiv. It destroyed a fleet of vintage cars that used to belong to Russian stooge and former Ukrainian president Viktor Yanukovich. Because of his corruption the Ukrainian media has delighted in reporting it. Yanukovich fled to Moscow in 2014 and was sentenced in absentia in 2019 for high treason.

The head of Ukraine’s Center for Countering Disinformation said that North Korea’s terrible performance in Kursk is due to lack of training to counter drones and artillery. They weren’t trained. There are language barriers. Some North Korean soldiers have been killed. A couple have been captured. Their participation was supposed to be secret, or at least have plausible deniability. That clearly did not work.

Russia dropped a smart bomb on itself. A UMPB-250 bomb fell in Bolshiye Kulbaki. It didn’t hurt anyone. I hope it cost a lot of money.

A Russian city in Siberia has had a rough week. 315 buildings lost heat in -30c weather. Now a sewage pipe broke and flooded downtown.
