Beady eyed

Although we live in a suburban area it is not unusual to have Kookaburras visit but rarely do they come so close to our back door. It was fortunate that they remained around long enough for a close up photo. They are a member of the Kingfisher family.
Quite often they come calling several together and their distinctive sounds like laughter can be rather loud and sometimes annoying particularly at five in the morning.
People refer to them as "The Laughing Jackass".
