PIX
To the State Library to see the PIX exhibition, photographs from a Sydney pictorial news magazine that lasted from the late 1930s to the early 1970s. The woman with the camera might be Adelie Hurley, a PIX swimsuit model turned press photographer. (All the swimsuit shoots seemed to be in winter when beaches were deserted.) The poster girl is modelling ‘artificial eyelashes’ c. 1941. Downstairs a wall of PIX cover girls included an ex’s mother ‘on her day off from nightclub job’ in 1950.
