Sir Leo Hielscher Bridges... Gateway Motorway... The Brisbane River flows underneath... The height is equivalent to a 20 storey building... It had to be high enough for Cruise ships to go under but low enough to avoid the flight paths from the nearby Brisbane Domestic and International  airports...

The crazy thing about them beforehand there was huge debates over the height as our Cruise Terminal was further up the Brisbane River and the Cruise ships could only sail in and out on a low tide... In 2022 they built a new Brisbane International Cruise Terminal closer to the mouth of the Brisbane River so now the Cruise ships don't come this far up the Brisbane River... So to me things weren't really planned out and they actually wasted money making it so high when it now isn't required to be that height...
