Male Pileated woodpecker making his morning rounds in our back yard. He usually flys in and lands on the winged elm tree. From there he can scout out the BarkButter feeders...determining which ones are unoccupied and which have the largest amounts of the golden suet...his favorite snack. Many other birds also enjoy the Bark Butter so the three feeders are dutifully replenished daily. (Good Hooman!) The trick is to refill them after the Crows have made their morning sweep through the yard. Otherwise they will consume every bit of the BarkButter. Ah...Backyard Logistics! m
