Wallingford Bridge in Oxfordshire

We had a little trip out to Wallingford today, started in the sunshine but ended up another cloudy grey day.

The bridge in Wallingford crosses the Thames. It is 900 feet long and made up of 19 arches. The first bridge was built here in 1141 and over the years there have been amendments and rebuilds. Made of stone, the last major refurbishment was in 1810 to 1812.

Today the river was fast flowing and there was flooding following the rains over the last few days.

Interesting town with lots of old buildings including Cornerstone Cottage, St Peters Street built from flint, in the extras
