Walking with Anne
It was a very early (for me) start to the day... Needing to be totally ready for the day pre 7 so I could host morning prayers at 7 and then head off at half past to get to my 8 o'clock school governors meeting. It always feels like a privilege hearing the inside story, though listening in Spanish and reading documents in Catalán, at the same time, fries my brain a bit. Today the Directora was sharing that several of our kids are living in cars and caravans in these new shanty towns that are popping up everywhere. On a rich island, this just shouldn't be the case. But rents are so crazily high. In the newspaper today there was a report that people are renting rooms out for 1,400€ a month - a room!!! Just a room in a shared flat!
Later in the morning Anne and I took our cameras out. She's a fantastic wedding photographer here, but wants to 'play' more with it all, so asked if we could start meeting regularly to go searching for visual treasures. I've added a selfie in extras. We had such a good time...wide ranging conversation, seeing things in different ways, discovering new nooks and crannies in Dalt Vila...
Then this afternoon my weekly meeting with Alanna, looking at the next few weeks of Alpha etc. And later top secret birthday prep with Asha - Danny's 21x2 on Saturday!
I'm now sat in bed with my laptop trying to get an essay written.
Today I'm grateful for;
1) A stunning sunrise this morning as I walked to the meeting... It was all behind me, I had to keep turning round to take it in!
2) Walking with Anne and seeing things in new and different ways.
3) The camaraderie in the Chaplains WhatsApp chat!
