The case is altered
Life ain’t a bowl of cherries.
But sometimes it’s like a bowl of frozen blueberries, plucked from the deep freeze, waiting to be thawed in the microwave and eaten with some ice cream.
Once again my day was extraordinarily busy. I think this is what they call the adjustment phase where you have to get used to a new baby coming into this world not naked and alone but accompanied by a huge amount of paraphernalia, everything from sterilisers to buggies, baby grows to baby bouncers, bulk buy formula milk and endless nappies. And then of course there is the issue of routine, which goes completely out of the window.
My magic moment with Little Miss A today was sitting with her whilst she fell asleep on me and whilst we listened to classical music together. I was genuinely struck with wonder at the joy and serenity of it.
Finished my third novel in two weeks tonight. Called The Stone Skies it is the final volume in the Broken Earth trilogy by NK Jemesin. The following made me think of Donald Trump (should he ever achieve any self awareness) although it is actually voiced by a man-made mutant who had morphed into a creature that turns people to stone then eats them:
"Once, after all, I believed I was the finest tool ever created by a great civilization. Now, I have learned that I am a mistake cobbled together by paranoid thieves who were terrified of their own mediocrity”.
I am constantly cleaning at the moment. The house seems to be forever in a mess and I’m desperately trying to stay one step ahead, or at least keep up.
Managed to do more than 10,000 steps today, most of them I think due to housework rather than long distance walking .
So tired tonight ...
