Reflections
What a day.
It all started with the president of Rwanda calling Ramaphosa a liar, and a heated debate ensued.
Whether he was a liar or not was not the point, but the lack of knowledge as to where Rwanda is, and its history became the main topic of conversation as questions were raised.
A discussion then followed about whether a similar event could happen here, with the Zulu nation being identified as the most probable aggressor. Interestingly, the two Zulu’s in our midst were very vocal in their dismissal of the possibility
The debate took a different route when the discussion moved to the impact of Trump’s withdrawal of funding for local HIV/Aids research. A personal issue for a couple of people.
What I found really interesting was the views over the situation in Israel/Gaza. Only one person had heard of the holocaust, and there were a couple of disbelievers that such a thing could happen.
Whilst it was good to listen to inquiring minds, It was a relief to just enjoy the sunset after such an intense sharing of views and information.
