Lovatt Street

This is Lovatt Street in east Belfast depicting typical housing that is now disappearing quite fast.  East Belfast employment in past was heavily based on ship building, aircraft manufacture and rope making and the workforce were largely drawn from streets like this.

In this photograph there are three styles of housing architecture, the one up one down terraced housing on the left.  A semi-detached house straight ahead and between the two a much more modern construction that was not part of the original setup.  Also notice the telephone wires fed to each house from a telegraph pole that is out of view.
