Life Is Like a Bowl of Cherries
This day's captive ice yield was two separate blocks, each with wonderful (but quite sharp) crystal shapes and lots of textures. My photo sets were fun, but different, even though I keep using the same colorful strand of plastic beads.
No two blocks of ice yield the same visual treats. I find the whole experiment mesmerizing, every single time. I thought that this photo looked like a glassy bowl of cherries, though my berry bowl features different colors than just the usual reds.
My soundtrack song for this image of icy pretend-berry splendor is John Mellencamp, with Cherry Bomb.
P.S. I have a fun story for the day:
Well, it FINALLY happened to me!
A musical interlude with a complete stranger!
My husband and I went into the Wine & Spirits shop on North Atherton Street. As I waited for my husband, I noted the checkout lady up front. Bohemian Rhapsody came on the PA system overhead and she started to sing along, with feeling.
"I see a little silhouetto of a man," she sang.
"Scaramouche! Scaramouche!" I sang back; "Will you do the FanDANGO?"
Suddenly she noticed me singing along. "Thunderbolt and lightning, very very frightening!" she crooned, "to meeeee!"
We sang a few Galileos back and forth and I threw in a fancy crowd-pleasing step or two when we got to the "Galileo Figaro, magnifico!" part.
By this time, I heard my husband coming up the aisle. He rolled his eyes: "I do NOT KNOW these two women!" he said, to nobody in particular.
"That's my husband and he's LYING," I said back.
And we all stood there smiling at each other like fools. :-)
