Tea: a cautionary tale
I like tea done properly, a pot and all, and my normal blend is a mix of Assam and Earl Grey, both usually Waitrose own. Today was tea mixing day as the last of the previous blend went into the teapot first thing.
Last week Waitrose had run out of their own Assam, so substituted some Twinnings. It wasn't until I poured both teas into the bowl for mixing I noticed the condition of the Assam tea. Although not the dust normally found in teabags, it wasn't wasn't what I would describe as tea leaves, more like granules. On closure examination of the boxes, I realised Twinings, whose Lapsang Souchong is no more, don't even claim to put loose tea leaves in their box any more <shakes head sadly>
As I often remind my students, it is important to read the whole question or packet!!
