White Admiral
Walked the woodland butterfly transect this afternoon, 10 different species and more than 70 individual butterflies in less than an hour. Quite a lot of silver-washed fritillaries and several white admirals feeding on bramble - always just slightly hidden by the foliage. I also saw a couple of marbled whites which are quite common on the South Downs but its unusual to see them in the woodland glades.
