Catching the rugby
… well, I didn’t really, but it was being shown on the screens at the Raeburn Hotel when I took a wander along the street. Looking over the fence, I managed to figure out that Scotland was winning at this point and once home I saw that they had indeed beaten Italy.
After that I popped into a couple of shops and spent about fifteen minutes in a queue in the Oxfam shop where they had just, today, had a new till installed which was proving impossible for the volunteers to operate. The manager had to take over, but the system seemed to be rather “flakey”. Progress, huh! And whose bright idea was it to start off a new till on a Saturday? Anyway, we were all very patient and the staff very apologetic. All I was buying was a card, but I didn’t want to appear churlish by abandoning my purchase, so just had to bide my time.
The day started off in traditional Saturday fashion (unlike last week) with Edinburgh parkrun, although I think it had been touch and go as it was pretty frosty and a bit slippery in places, but this had more or less gone by the time we started. (Extra: picture of the field beside the start before we commenced).
