Backblip
I haven’t blipped for a long time because I haven’t been out a lot to take photos. I had a back injury that meant I couldn’t walk far and was going to the same few places without taking any different photos.
Then my doctors reduced the frequency of my B12 injections, which led to a lot of fatigue, and again I didn’t go out much. Last Tuesday I had my routine diabetic blood tests. On Wednesday night at 11.15 my doorbell rang. I wouldn’t answer the door - he said he was from the out of hours doctor service. I have NEVER had a doctor come to my house! He said he was a paramedic and needed to come inside and talk to me about my blood test results. I just didn’t believe him. He wouldn’t stop banging on my door so I called the police.
They came and said he was genuine. He said I had kidney damage shown up by the blood test and I needed to go to hospital. I didn’t feel at all ill and sent him away -he gave me dire warnings about possibly dying during the night!
I phoned my doc the next morning and was called in to have repeat blood tests. The results were in yesterday and my doc told me I had to go to hospital immediately for a kidney scan. Even though I was booked in for an urgent scan they failed to do it. They said I had to come back on Monday? They did tests and an infusion and after being there for 8 hours with no scan I went home, against their advice. If the scan was so urgent why were they telling me I shouldn’t go home? I have cats and foxes and hedgehogs to feed and I didn’t feel close to dying ( whatever that feels like!).
But today I do feel really unwell and have spent the day trying, unsuccessfully so far, to make arrangements for my cats. I’ve been told to call an ambulance if I feel worse and I’m now close to doing that. I was told my kidney test score is ‘9’ and I’ve googled that. It’s scary.
So I’m doing this blip with a December photo just as a record of some unbelievable events. I don’t know if I’ll be back!
