Celtic Connections
Went through to Glasgow to see a concert at the Pavilion. It was Dervish and guests, including the Indigo Girls (which was why we went) performing The Great Irish songbook. Moya Brennan (formerly part of Clannad), Julie Fowlis and Eddi Reader also joined the band on stage at different points in the evening. Amy and Emily came on in the second half and started with Closer to Fine, when it became apparent we weren't the only people there primarily to see them. They then performed the new single they have just released with Dervish and a couple of other numbers before everyone came back on stage for the finale. Interesting watching Amy when they paused singing for an instrumental bit - standing back to the side so people could see the musicians playing. Earlier we had a bit of trouble finding a place to eat but lucked out with a sit-in fish n chip shop close to the venue. Back in Edinburgh followed all the massive signs to Taxis at Waverley only to end up somewhere round the back of the station where there were markedly no taxis. Went outside to the rank on Market Street (which I thought had been moved, hence all the signs) and despite a queue we got a taxi pretty quickly. Note for the future - ignore the signs in the station as they are a waste of time!
