Clinging to the Acer
Woke to a blue sky and after breakfast I walked down to fetch some bread. Although it was zero degrees, there wasn't a breath of wind so I didn't need a hat.
Bumped into Rosemary who was out for a walk and, in spite of being deaf, lip reads well and was a teacher. She had her 90th birthday in October, which we celebrated.
Then I caught up with another local who has recently had an ankle operation and was out with a golf club, which he was using as a stick and occasionally taking an imaginary shot. He asked if I would put a few pictures on our local Facebook group to cheer him up.
This afternoon JJ and I have done a bit of work in the garden. I dug up a lot of Nigella seedlings that had planted themselves between the paving and fence. I had thought of leaving them but realised they'd be very difficult to remove once they'd flowered.
JJ cleared a lot of twigs off the lawn and whilst the back gate was open I nipped round to the neighbour to get him to bring his green bin round so it could be emptied over the back, where we have a considerable leaf mountain.
The sparrowhawk has been hanging around again, without success. Woody was chuntering up in our lime tree so I went indoors and then he came down for some sunflower hearts. He is very skittish, so getting a picture through the window was difficult.
