Lazy Sunday.
A lovely lie in this morning.
At noon we caught a bus into Ilkley for the first food market of the year.
We had booked a table at Friends of Ham so we were not tempted to buy anything to eat.
The new fountain, ( see extra ) was having some final touches before the landscaping begins and today the plaques of local benefactors were being installed. If you look you might see a name you recognise of a local lad done good .
The fountain was commissioned after local fundraising to replace a defunct Victorian water feature.
Three designs made the final for the public vote and the winner was designed by Juliet Gutch.
It’s based on the sphagnum moss that grows on Ilkley Moor.
A lot of the older community were not in favour of the design, preferring something more traditional but the public vote chose this one and it’s going to look fabulous.
Have heard there is to be amphitheater seating behind it so you can sit and enjoy it. I was impressed.
Friends of Ham on a Sunday afternoon is one of Elaine and myself’s favourite venues.
Great cheese , the first we’ve had since Christmas including a local pecorino produced in Otley only five miles away : stunning, a real tastes sensation.
Even had room for an Affagato too.
