Media Marathon de Torremolinos

The half marathon course was on my route to the Marismas de Guadalhorce, a nature reserve a few miles along the coast towards Malaga. I had great fun watching the runners, and the police controlling the traffic, some very impatient, on roads that had not been closed off. The conditions were quite good, perhaps a little too windy, I saw several of the Garscube Harriers and many Carmen Runners from Tyrone. I saw them again this afternoon celebrating in the Irish Pub on my return trip. I’m always amazed how folk can drink and eat after a race, my appetite closes down for at least a day.

The nature reserve (extra) was extremely busy, with queues for the hides, of which there several giving great views of the two lagoons scattered with black winged stilts, various ducks and a small number of flamingos.
