Meeting the Locals
We met up with C & A again and ventured east to Cothelstone Hill for a morning walk, then to Fynn Court for lunch and a meander around the grounds. The hill is to the south of the main Quantocks and gives a 360 degree view over Somerset, and even to Wales on a clear day. Unfortunately it was quite hazy today, hence the Exmoor pony being the Blip rather than the view! The house at Fynn Court burned down in the late 19th century, although some buildings which were separate from the main house remain and have been modified by the National Trust. The grounds were once landscaped with water features and have many mature trees, although now the estate is described as a nature reserve. It'd be good to visit again in the summer.
