antifascist firewall
A very chilled out morning. Trip into Berlin to join the antifascist protest. According to the police about 160 000 people turned up. The organisers reckon it was more than 250 000. 20 000 were expected. We didn't make it to the head quarters of the CDU because there were too many people. On recent events in German politics: Friedrich Merz, the top man of the CDU introduced an anti-immigration bill which was only considered with support of the far-right AfD and liberal (more likely libertarian these days) FDP. It was voted down in parliament recently. The bill was anti-constitutional and incompatible with the European borders arrangement.
The protests are important now. However, we also need progressive politics that deal with exploitation, social justice and climate change.
