Peckham Rye

It's ages since I was in Peckham and I was very pleased that my camera and I had a little time there before meeting friends for a meal. And, since my train onwards was delayed, a bit more time afterwards in the alleys and under the arches near the station.

25 years ago the new Peckham library (first extra) won the Stirling architecture prize and I remember a bit of a hoo-ha about putting impressive buildings in run-down areas. I've never visited, and its prominence shook me. Imagine - libraries aren't even allowed to buy books any more, let alone have confident buildings...

The building in the second extra (in Pimlico) is just showing off.
