An experiment with tulips

When is it too late to plant tulip bulbs?  I am about to find out having planed mine today. Yes,  I know all the gardening afficionados say Oct- December.
But do they consider that  gardening in Scotland  is more challenging with our longer winters and colder climate?

Anyway, bought some today to brighten up our newly painted north facing kitchen.
