A Jagged Edge

Ah, Summer!

My favourite time of year for fresh produce. We plan on cooking some grilled chicken with pesto and marinated tomatoes for dinner tonight, to be enjoyed alongside a grilled corn and orzo salad with basil.

The tomatoes are field grown locally, as is the butter and sugar corn. I purchased them this afternoon from our local farm stand. The basil came right out of my herb garden. The absolute best way I know to slice ripe tomatoes is to use this superb Wusthof tomato knife. Its jagged edge slices through the fruit like a hot knife through butter.

Photographing this little scene managed to fill the air with the scent of basil, and the sight of those tomatoes and corn has made me decidedly peckish!
