Islands Of Ice

More wind and sun took its toll on the lake ice, opening up pools of water here and there. I doubt though that the thawing went down through the full depth of the ice.

In this case, a few islands of ice remained, poking up through the meltwater, glowing in the warm late afternoon sunshine. They stood in contrast to the blue water which rippled in gusty wind.
