First appointment
A day that was supposed to be spent at the National Running Show in Birmingham inevitably started like this.
Well, it actually started with Owen coming in to us at about half past 2 not feeling well with a high temperature. Calpol didn't help, so it was a call to 111 who gave the options of Children's Assessment or the first appointment at ShropDoc. Of course choosing option 2 meant that the next step was a referral by ShropDoc, to...Children's Assessment.
Despite having a direct ENT referral and a letter, we were in the Assessment Unit for 3 hours before being seen by the doctor who then phoned ENT...who had been expecting us. The ENT doctor had a look at Owen's ear, deciding that it needed draining if not actual surgery to clear out the infection.
Unsurprisingly, Owen wouldn't let him get anywhere near him with the big needle to drain it, but that struggling caused the swelling to burst and so the doctor got to drain it anyway. Happy that it was improved he prescribed a new course of antibiotics and let us go home with instructions to go back on Wednesday to review.
Aren't weekends supposed to be restful...
