It has to be sprouts......
...... in bubble 'n squeak, & my first blip opportunity arose as I was popping last nights orts in the fridge. Hubby suddenly does' nt like sprouts, (they have ALWAYS been his fav veg) Mum is'nt thrilled either so they had Savoy cabbage with their roast yesterday, the remaining sprouts all cooked up. Tonight's dinner - bubble 'n squeak, crispy bacon, & a' Silly Cow' egg. A local supplier donating 100% proceeds to the RNLI. Beautiful eggs, I picked up half a dozen this morning on my way down to Mum's.
Yesterday, I hard pruned the vicious Osmanthus heterophyllus back to it's bare bones, this morning I loaded a bag of prunings into the car to pop in Mum's green bin. Still 3 bags stuffed full to dispose of.
Mum was sorting her felt pens when I arrived this morning. Curtains all drawn, lights on... :-)
Made her breakfast, once Indie had had her corner of toast with marmalade we headed off for our walk. A bright sunny walk, a pleasant surprise after the mizzly, misty start. Birdsong was a treat. Song Thrush, Great Tit, Blackcap, Blue tit, & woodpecker there abouts. I stopped at the back of the heath & watched the Blue tits, Longtail tits flitting amongst the branches. Perfect! Two days ago I checked one of the puddles on the heath for frogs spawn, today I checked again. Bingo!! Same puddle as last year, & the year before. I'm chuffed. Sent Devon Wildlife Trust a Facebook message with a photo. :-)
Did a few chores after coffee with Mum. Spent a few minutes searching for a complete set of felt tip pens that have disappeared, thought I might have found the grapefruit knife that has disappeared as well, but no luck with either.
I actually managed to get through to Barclays customer services this morning after selecting numerous options. Had quite an amusing conversation & managed to get myself a new debit card in the post after. The card being blocked after being scammed at a car park. GGGGRRRHHH!
Phoned & left a message with central heating guy in the village to arrange Mum''s yearly boiler service.
Made Mum' s lunch then headed home. Laundered the bedding, got that on the line, made lunch.
This afternoon I continued my gardening jobs. The holly trees in the garden needed pruning. 5 x 40ltr compost bags crammed full. Plastic pots/saucers tidied up. It was 4.55pm, still nice & light. I do like the lighter evenings.
Put the fresh bedding on the bed, laundry in & on the airer. Prepped dinner, then sat down with my cider at 6pm to watch ROHOG.
Bubble 'n squeak was scrummy.
