In the fields

This afternoon, I went for a short walk to fields near us, where people had told me a barn owl can be seen quartering the area, on a regular basis, around 4pm. I arrived there about 3.45 pm, had a brief glimpse of a Kestrel and then a male Stonechat, which is my main blip. Then, as if by magic,  at 4pm, the owl came flying past me, and continued flying back and forth, hunting  for food in the tall grasses.Several times it disappeared from view  for a few minutes, but then would return. I watched it for about 40minutes before  it flew to more distant fields. I tried to photograph it but it was too quick for me to get a really good shot. However, I have included one shot in extras. What I find extraordinary is that these (now uncultivated) fields are very close to houses and  are heavily frequented by dog walkers, yet the owl is not deterred. I didn't  see it catch anything, for certain, but I saw it pounce several times, and of course it may have found  a vole when out of my sight.(The photo shows it in front of a  leylandii hedge in someone 's garden.)
I now can't wait to return another day, to try honing my photographic skills, as I become more familiar with our new camera, providing  the owl will oblige again!
