centennial bridge

of davenport, iowa. built in 1940, this was the first tied-arch span as well as the first 4-lane bridge over the mighty mississippi river. the centennial name commemorated the 100th anniversary of the fouding of rock island, illinois, the city and state on the other side of where i am standing.

yes, back in the quad-cities again. took the early flight this morning to chicago, then the three-hour drive to davenport for lunch. i arrived early because there was purportedly a lot to prepare for my next two working days here. i was at the facility for maybe an hour today - still cringing at the thought of how much more sleep i could've had in my own bed. good thing the weather is gorgeous here this time of year.

next two days will be busy though. i'm serving 12-hours of training each day, so i'm expecting only the ability to whisper when i fly home.
