EB: What I’m reading

The nice older woman, Nicola, at Persephone Books in Bath recommended it to me on Saturday, after I asked for ‘unconventional’. It’s very dry in places, for example “She had a high colour toned down by mauve powder, which gave her the look of a ripe nectarine; one that had been in the box rather a long time”.

I spent the day working, and running errands at lunchtime, followed by packing in the evening. Knowing what to take as hand luggage is always tricky.
