back to the park
I had missed a few days of walking, so it was good to be back to my routine of going to pilates class and then to Conservatory Park. It's a small park but filled with these marvellously tall South Florida Slash Pines as well as Live Oak's and lots of lovely green ferns. Just moving and breathing in this southern forest.. That was the ticket.
Mom was discharged yesterday and my sister brought her home. That evening my sister said she was somewhat confused and a bit mad about what the Drs said she could and couldn't do. But when Steve went over today she was using her walker and talking with a visiting RN without getting frustrated or peeved. He joked around with her (as he does) and had her laughing.
Steve and I will go over tomorrow and stay with her while my sister & brother in law go out for a bit. Mom had talked to Steve in the hospital about being worried about older car. We have been worried about her driving at all. Mom has not wanted to not give her independence up. At this juncture, we've decided that Steve will take the car to have it looked at, but instead take it to our house and later tell her she was right, the car is not safe to drive.
As Bette Davis said, "Getting old is not for sissies." Onward...
