Richard III lived here.
View from the Keep
Despite its ruined state, the central Keep is still an imposing structure measuring some 110 feet by 80 feet.
Middleham Castle was the childhood home of Richard III.
Middleham Castle in Wensleydale, in the county of North Yorkshire, was built by Robert Fitzrandolph, 3rd Lord of Middleham and Spennithorne, commencing in 1190.
It was built near the site of an earlier motte and bailey castle.
