Aconites and old friends
Drizzly misty start to the day. Short walk with the dog before picking Mum up at 11 and driving to Mottisfont for lunch with an old friend of hers. Last time we went to Mottisfont it seemed to take hours and V kept telling me to leave earlier and earlier but in fact with Apple Maps from Mum’s it took barely 40 minutes so we had to hole up in the National Trust car park to while away some time. We couldn’t even ‘not find the house’ as it was the biggest in the village and in vision the minute we turned off the main road.
The first thing that struck me was this superb carpet of aconites by the gate. Lunch was lovely. A sherry by the fire followed by a simple but delicious lunch and a good catch up. Sue C, the person we were lunching with made Mum’s wedding dress so they go back a long way. Indeed her mother in law was close to Mum in her childhood.
Sped back again but now in lovely winter sunshine.
