Squeaky birds

I met an old friend for a long chat today and I was telling her about the strange arrangement of the Pitt Rivers Museum with its categories such as "Feathers" or "Combs" or "Baby carriers" each with examples from around the world.

She asked what we had brought back from Australia this time and I told her about the Utopia dog made out of straw and green knitting wool (standing on the arm of the sofa).  And two toy birds that make the sound of the bird when you squeeze their tummies - a Blue Penguin (that we glimpsed on King Island) and a Galah Cockatoo (which were numerous in South Australia and here in the thumbnail).

They sit on the end of the sofa with other squeaky birds that we have brought back from round the world.  She pointed out that we have our own genre collection that takes no account of geography, which I hadn't thought of before...
