The Blue Toon
Despite most of the older building in Peterhead being built from reddish granite it is known as the Blue Toon.
This is because traditionally the Fishermen wore long blue knitted stockings under their sea boots. The hose was known as 'moggans' and the Fishermen and other inhabitants of the town as 'Blue Mogganers'
