Banana Breakfast
As I walked through the nearby forest reserve this morning a BrushTurkey was breakfasting on a banana plant growing wild in the bushland. A Brisbane City Council website, which I think aims to help residents co-exist with these large ground-dwelling and mound-building birds, says they are very shy by nature. I'm not sure about their shyness - in my experience, they largely ignore humans and pursue their lifestyle quite successfully in close proximity to humans and suburbia.
