Making a start on Paddy's jumper
I made a start on Paddy' jumper today when I was visiting Mummy hazelh at her care home in Newcastle. I am so glad that I decided to knit while I am sitting with her. Asking her to check the pattern and hold the wool gives her something to do, I feel 'productive' (especially when she is dozing in her chair), and it doesn't feel as rude an activity as would be reading or working on my laptop. A further advantage is that my knitting interests the other residents and serves as a conversation prompter when they come to look at the pattern and my progress. I have left the knitting at the home on the top shelf of Mummy hazelh's wardrobe to pick up whenever I visit.
Mummy hazelh changed rooms a few days ago to one that is larger and with much better views over the wooded area that borders the care home grounds. I was therefore prepared to find her clothes out of order in her chest of drawers and wardrobe. Once again, everything looked OK at a superficial level. While Mummy hazelh was in the dining room for lunch, I tidied up in her bedroom. It will be interesting to check the state of her belongings when I return to Newcastle for my next weekly visit.
Exercise today: walking (21,291 steps).
