Redwoods
I just had to blip these gorgeous trees. I love them and their fragrance. They're huge and really quite spectacular. Was thrilled that I got to hug one. My mother-in-law used to hug trees ... So we do it in remembrance of her!
Martin, Ben and I started today off early with a golf lesson, first time for me. The resort here has a professional golf instructor. She was really clear and detailed in her instructions and when it came to actually hitting the ball, we all did really well. I was extremely pleased and grateful for the opportunity.
Then another round on the putting greens with Jon. We headed out to Monterey later for lunch where we had the famous clam chowder which is one of the most talked about dishes on the west coast. It was yummy.
We'd seen on TV that Watsonville, about 40 mins away, was having a strawberry festival, so we thought we'd go check it out. On the way there, we passed by a few familiar strawberry farms, we recognised the names ... One of them being Driscoll's. We actually get those in our supermarket in DB. How exciting is that, now I know where they come from. In fact, it was pretty much all farm land from Monterey to Watsonville. Festival was okay, we did have a few strawberry treats, thankfully making the trip worthwhile.
Today has been our last day in the US, as tomorrow we head back to HK.
We have had the most fantastic adventure with loads of memories. The most special moments were seeing Kelly and family and Bob and Gail. It was super to be with them in their homes.
We've certainly got a taste of Americana and would definitely love to come back and explore more of this beautiful country. Great family holiday destination!
