Bits and Bobs!

By Kate64

It's been one of those weeks!

To celebrate two birthdays and a wedding anniversary, an evening out with family and friends at a lovely Thai restaurant. Well, that was the plan...

Upon our arrival at the restaurant we were greeted by the deafening ringing of the fire alarm. "Don't worry," said the waitress, "it's only the kebab shop underneath us. It'll go off in ten minutes." And after ten minutes of sitting with our fingers in our ears (and the arrival of a police car and a fire engine!), peace was returned, and a huge collective sigh relief was issued by the whole restaurant. But that peace was short-lived! During the next hour, the fire alarm went off a further three times, each time the waitresses carrying on serenely serving as if nothing was out of the ordinary.

However, after the fourth 'fingers in the ears' event, there was a sudden commotion amongst the staff and we were all hurriedly issued with candles, pressed to quickly order our deserts and pay our bill before the electricity was cut off, as they were having to shut down the power in the whole of the building due to a 'problem'!

It certainly was an evening to remember, and despite everything, was good fun, you just had to laugh about it all! The food was good, the drama was entertaining, and the candles did provide a gorgeous soft light...

And, you'll be pleased to know, the kebab shop didn't burn down to the ground!!
