Occasionally when I write my blog later after a busy afternoon I can hardly remember what I did in the morning. I remember having a lie in until 8am and having a leisurely coffee before walking through the Meadows to the shops in Nicolson Street. I stopped at the little book box at the communal garden and chose a book by Matt Haig to take home.

After lunch there was a meeting in the Art college Café of the Maggie’s Kitchen Table group. We hadn’t met since our Christmas lunch in early December so there was a lot of catching up and photo sharing.

I walked back with one of the ladies who had spent Christmas in Australia to the Marriott for TGIF drinks with my neighbours at 4pm and more chat over a glass of wine (not forgetting the almond croissant which was under a notice that said free to take- what’s not to like?)

I had just returned home and closed the blinds for the night when I got a phone call from blipper BarrioBoy who said he and Digitaldaze were standing outside my back door and was I home- caught again in my pyjama breeks! It was lovely and completely unexpected to see them. They are back in Scotland to clear Barrioboy’s Mother’s flat in Largs  and some things from their small rented flat in Edinburgh before driving back with the loot to Barcelona. We came to the conclusion we hadn’t met since before Covid. It’s a wonder we recognised each other. Their visit was brief but we managed to procure blips….. obviously!

Now, still in my pyjama breeks, I’m expecting my son- in- law to come and collect my big case to take to America where he has an exhibition next week. The price he has to pay is to take my surplus to requirement fake Christmas Tree to the dump. Barter is the way forward.
