Beginning of the end

Posting 8th February.2025,  i.e. 24 years later.

Up to Düsseldorf for a bug company meeting with 100s of staff fron around Germany. Medtronic Inc (USA), one the top two heart device manufacturers worldwide had in 2000 bought out the 'small' but world top two ENT device manufacturer, Xomed Inc, where I had been emoloyed since 1996.

Within weeks of that takeover, it was announced we had to move office from south-west to north-east Munich. A pain for the six odd staff members who now faced long commuting journeys. 

However, this latest meeting was to announced even more restructuring including shuttle Munich office and centralising German operations in Düsseldorf & partly in Switzerland.  I was to be offered relocation to Düsseldorf, but I wasn't to take it, and by the end of the year took redundancy.

From the very start I didn't like working for Medtronic,  a brash, aggressive, corrupt (bribery of doctors) company, the absolute opposite to Xomed.
