Here and Now

Cold Duty

What a lark!  SF and I met up at Brookside (the ball parks next to the zoo) for a 1 hour shift that lasted 2.5 hours.  We tried to rescue a cat whose whiskers had been cut off. Why would someone do that?  I called the SPCA and they were willing to take her - a miracle.  S's friend was bringing cat treats and a cat carrier. Even though the cat followed us a long way, once plans were set, it took off and didn't return.   The paths were extremely icy.

The snow started coming down hard and looked like styrofoam balls, so we finally left (freezing) and headed over to Washington Reservation (extra) for the next one hour shift. It only lasted 15 minutes. Both of us suddenly slid a long way and nearly wiped out on black ice hidden beneath the accumulated snow. We carefully walked back to our cars and bagged it for the day.

I wish I could have done things differently to save that cat.

Is it ok to spit saliva and not seeds at the ballpark???
