Cookie Baking

My son and grandson, who's 7 years old, came over today for lunch and fun. My granddaughter went to a friend's house so it was just the three of us. The energy is very different without one of the kids present, and my grandson was really excited about baking Valentine's cookies! 

I bought a box of gluten free sugar cookie mix from a marvelous dedicated gluten free bakery near me called Blue Moon Baking Company. A friend of mine works there and orders for me with a discount...so super sweet! 

The dough was a little bit odd to work with, but we made it work and cranked out two trays of sugar cookies. Then the decorating began! My grandson chose all the colors for the frosting, and I iced the cookies and his dad (my son) helped my grandson with the decorating. He carefully chose one for his sister and we wrapped it up in a special cellophane bag with a bow on it. And the cookies were mighty tasty! See the extra for a close up of the googly eye cookie :-)
