Somebody didn't get the script
Everton 0 Bournemouth 2
FA Cup 4th round
It was written in the stars...Owen's first match, Goodison's last season, David Moyes' return, 30 years on since the last FA Cup win.
Except somebody didn't get that script.
Owen was super excited last night when I told him I'd got us tickets to go the match today and he did so well with the whole experience. We had an early(ish) start so that we could stop off at McDonald's on the way and he was asking so many questions. A quick play at the park when we got there then a look around outside and at the stalls. A very nice lady at the ticket office printed a physical ticket* as a souvenir before we negotiated the turnstiles and up the steps into the upper Bullens to find our seats* about half an hour before kick off.
The first half saw a couple of players under par and Bournemouth taking advantage to take a 2-0 lead. The first was a penalty at the Street end that I didn't think was a penalty (admittedly I've not seen the highlights yet) and the second capitalising on a mistake. The second half was much better from Everton, even hitting the post 3 times, but sometimes it just doesn't go for you. All in all it was much more positive than last year's Cup games though. Just a shame it didn't go as hoped although Owen had his own entertainment when it got too much*.
We will always be able to say that we went to the last ever Cup game at Goodison Park.
