Compilation

There is nothing new in this #leithwalkshops blip, because I already blipped The Red Sandstone cafe as part of a compilation "hipsterleith" blip, as well as the Greek mezze place Ella before it opened (and also subsequently from the inside when we ate there with meles and daveH). What struck me today, when I popped over to get a couple of bottles of wine from Cornelius, was how busy both places were, in the middle of a grey Saturday afternoon in February. The Foot of the Walk is increasingly becoming a casual eating destination with a variety of options (where previously it was just grim pubs and takeaway pizzas...). For example, the eponymous Red Sandstone space is now Kiki's cafe, a new Hungarian offering. Thank goodness the Red Sandstone building was not demolished, as was originally intended by the developers and owners, although that's no huge consolation to those businesses that were forced out of there when demolition was on the cards (only the Leith Depot stayed put and so now continues).

After a very long sleep, I took it fairly easy in the morning. We had supermarket shopping to do, and we also took the car to be washed. In a way, it's futile during the winter, but still you need to do it from time to time. No market, as no Pie Dolly :-(

The afternoon included a fairly long peloton workout and said trip across to Leith Walk for alcohol supplies. Mr A made us a Thai Red Curry for supper. I carried on reading my book - The Instrumentalist. This is March's book group book, chosen by E.

A quiet and restorative Saturday.
